As the automotive industry moves beyond a hardware-first paradigm, the car is rapidly evolving into a digital product–service ecosystem—one that continuously interprets and responds to the driving context. This transformation requires a fundamental shift in mindset: in-vehicle experiences must now adapt dynamically to the driver’s cognitive state, the vehicle’s behavior, and an ever-changing road environment.
Drawing on my cross-functional leadership across infotainment program management, user-experience concepting, and digital business innovation, this talk offers a practitioner’s view into where global OEMs are truly investing for next-generation mobility. I will outline the strategic directions shaping connected experiences today—from personalization engines and context-aware UX frameworks to AI-driven services that blend seamlessly into everyday life.
A core part of this lecture highlights a five-year journey of academia–industry collaboration with KAIST. What began as isolated technology demos gradually matured into road-ready, customer-centric experiences through iterative design cycles. By sharing concrete cases—from augmented-reality interaction concepts to connected-service experience prototypes—I will demonstrate how academic breakthroughs can be translated into production-grade experiences inside actual vehicles.
Ultimately, this talk aims to bridge the gap between research ambition and industry reality, offering a practical blueprint for designing context-aware mobility experiences that are not only innovative in the lab, but also meaningful, safe, and shippable in the real world.
