In the past 10 years, tremendous investments have been made in Autonomous Driving, producing tangible results. The interest and plethora of activities in Autonomous Driving R&D across diverse technological field can be credited to the 2007 DARPA Urban Challenge. In this talk, drawing from personal experiences, discussions will include history of autonomous driving, starting from the DARPA Urban Challenge, the latest Level 3 Traffic Jam Pilot, and Level 4 robotaxi Autonomous Driving, and possible direction to which autonomous driving may follow. Autonomous driving from the perspectives from auto industry is also discussed.
